VedProv6.5.1 WebJob #10482 • Dr. Michael Vance, MD
VALLEY ORTHOPEDIC & SPORTS SURGERY CENTER — OPERATIVE REPORT
PREOPERATIVE DIAGNOSIS: Right knee medial meniscus tear and localized grade III chondromalacia of the medial femoral condyle.
POSTOPERATIVE DIAGNOSIS: Right knee medial meniscus tear and localized grade III chondromalacia of the medial femoral condyle.
PROCEDURE PERFORMED: Right knee arthroscopy with partial medial meniscectomy and mechanical chondroplasty.
SURGEON: Michael Vance, MD • ANESTHESIA: General laryngeal mask airway.
OPERATIVE FINDINGS & TECHNIQUE IN DETAIL: The patient was brought to the operative suite, placed in the supine position, and endotracheal anesthesia was administered. The right lower extremity was prepped and draped in standard sterile orthopedic fashion. Standard anterolateral and anteromedial portals were established. Diagnostic arthroscopy revealed a complex tear of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus. Using mechanical basket punches and motorized shaver, a careful partial medial meniscectomy was performed until a stable, smooth peripheral rim was achieved. Inspection of the medial femoral condyle demonstrated an area of grade III chondromalacia, which was gently debrided with chondroplasty.
